The Ukiah Rifle and Pistol Club is affiliated with the International Defensive Pistol Association (IDPA). Matches are generally held the third Saturday of each month at the Helldorado pistol range, with check-in at eight o'clock and a shooter brief and stage walk through at nine o'clock. Defensive Pistol shooting as a sport is simply the use of practical equipment including full charge service ammunition to solve simulated "real world" self-defense scenarios. Shooters competing in Defensive Pistol events are required to use practical handguns and holsters that are truly suitable for self-defense use. No "competition only" equipment is permitted in Defensive Pistol matches since the main goal is to test the skill and ability of the individual, not their equipment or gamesmanship. New shooters to IDPA are required to join the IDPA after one match if the shooter desires to compete in additional IDPA events. Watch the calendar & social media for updates. |
Cowboy Action - SASS
Our Cowboy Action group is one of a kind. They practice and compete with firearms of the legendary Old West. Men, women and children of all ages shoot a variety of stages that replicate old west shoot outs but in a safe, controlled environment. This group dresses up in the best wild west outfits and meets regularly on our famous Helldorado pistol range every month on the third Thursday of every month. They also have a week long adventure in September in which they take over the whole club and have stages set up one every range. Watch the calendar and social media for updates. |

Vintage Firearms
Vintage Firearms is dedicated to the safe and respectful operation of classic firearms designs. In general, firearms to qualify for these events must be a design at least 50 years old. (Reproductions that are just like the vintage ones are OK) Some events have more specific requirements, like the M1 Garand events. Currently, we have events for: M1 Garand/ M1 Carbine, Military Bolt Action Rifles, Lever action pistol caliber, Lever action rifle caliber, Military and Police Pistols, .22 rifles and we are planning on adding other types of firearms. Our events are open to all who appreciate the arms of the past. Our goal is to gain a better understanding of and respect for the people who once held these firearms. Our events are SAFE, educational, informative, and always fun for all.

This is a chance to test your skills with some of the same guns our ancestors may have used 50, 70 or over 100 years ago. For each event, there will be a planned course of fire that will change. For most high-power rifles, we will shoot 100-yard targets and the gongs on the hill. For pistol events, we will shoot from between 5 yards and 25 yards. For .22 rifles, it will usually be 50 feet. These events are very loosely timed, but there is always plenty of time as the goal is accuracy not speed. (The high-powered rifles may also be shooting at a moving target.) These events are on a “controlled range” and all NRA, club and special event safety rules will be followed. Watch the Calendar & social media for event updates. We usually have these events around the last Saturday of the month. Range set up starts after 7am and mandatory safety briefing starts at 9am, with the event starting shortly after that.
